1. Colorado Bear Creek Cabins

Some of the nicest and most well-rated cabins near Denver can be found at Colorado Bear Creek Cabins in Evergreen. These cabins are located just 30 minutes from downtown Denver and are right on the absolutely beautiful Bear Creek.

There are eight cabins here at this family-owned and operated property. Each comes with kitchens, fireplaces, WiFi, coffee, and flat-screen televisions. They also all have barbecue grills and seating areas right on the river shore.

You’ll love spending a night or more in a cozy creekside cabin of your own while still being close enough to Denver to dine at a restaurant, see a concert, or explore a museum for the day.

Alternatively, you might consider staying at The Cabins at Country Road, which is also in Evergreen, and is also on Bear Creek. If you’re looking for a more luxury cabin rental, then this might be the place for you.

You’ll also find eight cabins at this property, each of which bearing a cute name like “The Owl’s Nest,” “The Bootlegger Barn,” and “The Dreamcatcher Cabin.” All cabins have barbecue grills, full kitchens, comfortable furniture, and relaxing, quiet spaces where you can feel like you’ve managed to get away from it all.

Most cabins sleep just two guests, but two of them have room for four. Each cozy cabin is an adventure of its own, and once you stay in one, you’ll want to try them all.

If you’re looking for a more adventurous and rustic experience, you might enjoy the cabins in Golden Gate Canyon State Park’s Reverend’s Ridge Campground. There are five of them, plus two yurts, and you’ll reserve them through the park’s camping reservation system.

Each of these accommodations sleeps up to six guests, and some are pet-friendly. The park is about 45 minutes from Denver. These cabins are small and a bit spartan but are also cute and comfortable, and they are available year-round, making them the perfect choice for anyone looking to unplug.

Each cabin and yurt has electricity and heat but no water or bathroom; you’ll have to walk to the nearby visitor’s center when you need to go. You can cook on the fire pits or barbecue grills outside. At night, it’s silent, and you’ll love looking up at a sea of stars above.

I’m personally a huge fan of these cabins. They’re simple but affordable, and there are lots of outdoor adventures to enjoy nearby.

We rent one every year for Thanksgiving, and there’s nothing more rewarding than enjoying a turkey breast and a variety of sides that you made yourself over an open fire. I highly recommend it!

4. The Colorado Chautauqua

The Chautauqua Movement was an adult education and cultural movement that peaked in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Part of this movement involved the construction of communities where people could go to enjoy music, lectures, performances, and camaraderie with other progressive thinkers of the time.

Few of these communities remain today, but one still exists in Boulder. While in the past, people would visit these communities for months at a time, today, The Colorado Chautauqua offers rental cabins for shorter periods.

The cabins and cottages at The Colorado Chautauqua were all constructed between 1899 and 1954, and each one is unique. Among them, you’ll find studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options, as well as the Missions House lodge, which has eight bedrooms for large groups.

You won’t find televisions or telephones in any of them, although there is free WiFi throughout the park. They’re all adjacent to nearby hiking trails near Boulder’s famous Flat Irons and all else that the exciting city of Boulder has to offer. You’ll also be within reasonable driving distance of both Denver and beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park.

Further, The Colorado Chautauqua offers year-round cultural programming, a general store, and a dining hall, even though all the cabins have kitchens if you’d rather cook yourself. The mountain views are incredible from anywhere in the park, and pets are welcome in most cabins, too.

This mountain cabin in Golden, Colorado, is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Denver, and it’s simply lovely. This modern, luxury spin on a traditional Tyrolean log cabin is to die for.

This two-bedroom cabin sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and has one bathroom. Plus it has a fully equipped kitchen, two smart TVs, a wood-burning fireplace, a bathroom with a claw foot tub and separate shower, and a new hot tub for you and your companions to enjoy during your stay.

You’ll be within driving distance of Eldora Ski Area, which is a huge draw. The towns of Nederland, Black Hawk, Boulder, Golden, and Denver, are nearby, plus plenty of hiking, biking, rock climbing, and other winter sports opportunities.

After all of that, you’ll love relaxing in your private hot tub and reflecting on your incredible day. This spot is perfect for a weekend getaway or longer.

You’ll be amazed by this incredible cabin in the mountains in Indian Hills, Colorado. This home seems like it’s a million miles from everything, yet it’s surprisingly close to Denver; you can be downtown from it in less than 30 minutes. It sleeps five guests in two bedrooms and has lots of comfortable, shared spaces for your group to spread out, relax, and socialize with one another.

This cabin is considered a treehouse, although it’s not supported by trees; it is, however, elevated. On the lower level, you’ll find a hot tub, a gas fire pit, and hammocks.

The upper deck has space for outdoor dining and seating, too. Inside, you’ll find a lovely kitchen, an updated bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a fantastic rainfall showerhead. In addition to the good eats in Denver, this cabin is even closer to a number of excellent local restaurants and parks full of hiking trails, and if you stay here, you’ll be mere minutes from Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, too.
